Getting a COVID-19 vaccine can help protect children ages 5 years and older from getting COVID-19. Vaccinating children can help protect family members, including siblings who are not eligible for vaccination and family members who may be at increased risk of getting very sick if they are infected.

Children ages 5 to 11 years old are now eligible to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Following a careful clinical study of its safety and efficacy and after receiving final approval and guidance from federal and state authorities, Redicare Okemos is now offering the vaccine by appointment only.

Your child can also get their flu vaccine and other immunizations at the same time.  Like adults, children will need two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose. Your child’s second dose will be given 17 to 28 days after the first dose. Appointments for both doses will be scheduled at the same time.
